Thread Tension Problems? Clean Your Embroidery Machine Tensioners
If you’re experiencing thread tension problems on your industrial embroidery machine, one of the obvious, yet most overlooked reasons might be that your industrial embroidery machine’s tensioners are actually in need of cleaning.
Taking a look at it, I discovered that the embroidery machine tensioners had never been cleaned. And after a good wipe, their machine sewed like new again. Three years later, the machine is still sewing!
To clean out the tension disks in each of your tensioners, take a cotton swab (or earbud) soaked in alcohol and remove all of the dirt and lint buildup.
This is something that should be done routinely about every 6 months if you use your industrial embroidery machine on a daily basis. If you only use them part time, you should clean them at least once a year.
At times, there might be so much dirt built up behind the tensioners that you can’t get it all out.
It could especially be the case if you’ve had your machine for a few years and never cleaned it out. In this case, remove the tension disks entirely and soak them in alcohol for a couple of hours.
Add tensioners cleaning into your routine maintenance schedule and you should experience far less thread tension problems in the future!
